ABT Sportsline North America LP & Chicago Performance and Tuning Co have partnered to begin importing the iconic ABT XGT into the United States. Chicago Performance will serve as the sole importer of the racecar into the market, limited to only 10 units in North America!

The ABT XGT is a limited-edition racecar from the largest VW Group tuner in the world, with decades of professional motorsport experience in series like the venerable DTM. Their sole goal with developing this car was to bridge the gap between the daunting world of professional GT motorsport, and the familiar nature of road-going super sports cars. Based off the Audi R8 LMS GT2, very little is changed in terms of staggering looks and performance, but through expert refinement, a new level of approachability has been crafted.

Acceleration in the two-seater, rear-wheel drive, limited-edition racecar, comes from a 5.2L V10 engine with four valves per cylinder and four overhead cams, generating 640HP at 8,000 rpm and enables a top speed of almost 200mph. Whilst the numbers are impressive, the performance achieved is not with a delicate racing engine, but rather through a bespoke beating heart tailored by racing expertise, with the robust reliability synonymous with Audi streetcars.

In place of a sequential gearbox that requires focus and skill to operate without concern, the ABT XGT is fitted with the tried, true, and proven 7-speed S-tonic gearbox, simplifying use without loss of performance, and allowing it to retain the paddle shift system on the steering wheel, which is direct from its GT2 counterpart.

The blend of approachability without compromise of performance doesn’t stop at the powertrain. The four corners of the ABT XGT are held aloft with racing suspension that has specially manufactured springs providing a perfect amount of grip by means of its 2 adjustment levels, facilitating the perfect setup for every track.

Almost everything else on the ABT XGT remains unchanged and uncompromised from the Audi R8 LMS GT2. As the R8 is the head of the GT family for Audi, it is set at the forefront in terms of engine power and top speed, specifically tailored by Audi for “gentleman drivers”. Its slimline cockpit, the spectacular air scoop above the roof, its flared side blades and classically curved fenders have a captivating effect on everyone. Even the most unmoved are mesmerized as soon as the start button is pushed, unleashing the XGT’s brutal sound.

On the technical side, various changes in areas of heat management, software and complex vehicle diagnostic systems have been carefully honed to preserve the character of its thoroughbred racecar heritage. For ease & usability, the fuel tank system from R8 streetcar production was integrated, and the instrument cluster modified for friendlier use. The handbrake, central locking system, a rear-view camera, and an immobilizer have been incorporated, adding to the familiarity in transporting, securing, and displaying the car.

The control panel has also been adapted for use without the need of a team of engineers or support mechanics. It features controls for the electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, air conditioning and indicators.

Naturally with this much effort towards ensuring the purist racing ethos of the car was not lost, there was also a major focus on safety. The ABT XGT has completed demanding side and front crash tests to meet and exceed safety standards, should the worst occur.

Limited to 99 units worldwide, orders for the North American market are now being accepted by Chicago Performance. Starting price for the ABT XGT is set to € 599,000.00, with a range of customization options available.
